I've also been told that the city of Kiev is safe and quiet, which is a relief. I hope the crisis will work rather soon and that not too much blood will be shed.

If you look closely, you can see St. Sophia's Cathedral (link to wikipedia) and Mykhailivska Square, right in front of St. Michael's Golden-Domed Monastery (another wiki article). In the background, you can see Dnieper River (more, more wiki!).
For all those who have missed it: Here's another picture of St. Sophia's Cathedral, one of Kiev's oldest buildings. The card is a little older.
